Hi,

I create a topic to present you my Hiji...

I have it since 2007, untill 2009, I work essentially on the suspensions and brakes, although I have only the D15B2 90hp, it allow me to punish with road tires some bigger cars on track in, like Golf GTI, 206 S16 in slick tires...

but they was passing me on the straight line...so I decided to swap engine for one of my favourite Honda engine (maybe my favourite engine!)
D16A9! 130hp, and more torque at low rpm than a B16 (due to long run obtained with the crankshaft)...an really less expensive! I paid it 100€ all included to swap it in my car!

at the same time I was running with this D16A9, I rebuilt an other one:

http://www.youtube.com/v/BIpWPUc3zOQ

volumetric ration increase from 9.5:1 to 11:1...with OEM camshafts so the torque @ low rpm was really amazing for a 1,6L NA engine!

I had a map done by a local mapper, the best mapp I have ever seen on this engine...
with a friend we made a hybride gear box:the "Ouje Manuel Gear Box" (Portugal Domestic Market)

with S20 Esi gear box as base, we change some intern parts for:
EG3 ex 94'-95' final drive: 4,437 against 4,25
3, 4, 5 gear pinion from ED7

the max speed was 215-220km/h @ 8000rpm, with a great gear "overpass"

http://i22.servimg.com/u/f22/12/52/94/52/p1020511.jpg (http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=3005&u=12529452)

I tested with a friend who had a EJ2 B16a2 swapped with ITR gear box & 4-5 gear EG6 pinion:
2nd gear, 50km/ to 100km/h: 3 cars behind me
3rd gear, 90km/h to 140km/h: 3 cars behind me
2nd gear 50km/ to 150km/h: 3 cars behind me :D

off course, my EG was weigthing only 820kg with the tank full, I think it help me:P

DC2, EP3, FN2 Megane RS, golf GTI focus RS MK I, some Elises was behind me...

I advise you this set up, this is the cheaper you can have, for 500€ you can have all the engine necessary to swap it, and the 2 or 3 gear boxes to make the Ouje Manuel gear box :D

after trying this, I wonder why some B16 are sold 1200-1500€...

but the default of this engin when it is used with high rpm: the rods bearing
I learn the first thing to do is to change the OEM used for ACL race parts.

then, I bend a rod due to this fucking rod bearing...@ at the same time, a friend wished to sell his B18 engine full set up(25000km) to buy a NSX...

http://img26.xooimage.com/files/4/f/6/63883_15131418830...422249_n-20cbeb1.jpg (http://www.ejsquad.fr/image/26/4/f/6/63883_15131418830...422249_n-20cbeb1.jpg.htm)

it was a good opportunity to swap again, for a 238hp engine ( measured with ITB, but I prefere the simple throttle, it is more efficient on B series)

http://img49.xooimage.com/files/2/7/e/img_2314-2089260.jpg (http://www.ejsquad.fr/image/49/2/7/e/img_2314-2089260.jpg.htm)

now with the base map the power is about 215hp...but I'm waiting for an Ethanol mapping

Usually, this engine set up give 235-245hp/22-22,5mkg according to the measure, with SP98 gas, and 240-250hp/22,5-23,5mkg with Ethanol...

I will look if I find some track videos, I know I have 2:

the first, I pass a 360 Modena, and 2 turns later my ignition distributor has explosed ,
the second, it is the dead of my second D16A9 on track :D "clac-clac-clac-clac inside" 8)

Welcome! Nice car and good story and also great pictures !
must be fun to drive ! :D

Thank's!

I confirm it,

it is the funnier car I have driven for the moment :D

but I have to become accustomed to the really short gear box now, the speed at the rev max @ each gear are about:

1st: 60km/h
2nd: 106km/h
3rd:130km/h
4th:160km/h
5th: 196km/h

(@ 8800rpm)

so I have to improve shifting, and make it quickly now! it is not really easy, it is the only inconvenient of this set up!

If someone is looking for a good alignment/setting of the control arms, I advise this one:

front camber: 3,40 °mm
rear camber: 2,00°mm
chase: 4°mm
front alignment: 0,05°mm on each wheel
rear alignment: 0,05°mm on each wheel

:)

Danke, OK for N1, I didn't know it!

how did you get the Big Mac throug the small window :D

the waitress gave me it in a small bag :D

more comfortable than a rolls royce, and more spacious than a VW combi :D

I succeeded to put into the car in one time:

an EG Hood
an EG trunk
an EG front lip
the two fender
the front bumper
the rear spoiler
and an openable roof

:D

some video when I was with D16A9 engine:

the first:

Val de Cuech, Salon de Provence:

It was the second or third time I run this road, so was not "brainless" like on track :)
my friend who has the ITR know it by heart since many year, because I live at 2km of this road:D

at the upwill: 2 in my civic, 1 in the ITR

ITR set up:

Matter chassis
Matter soldered roll-cage
Coilover Bilstein PSS9 worked by Quaggliozzi (famous rallyman in France who has his own garage)
ITR gear box with 4 and 5 gear of EG6
Mugen head
Mugen ECU
Mugen or Promax Air box

210 hp on a measurement bench

so in uphill he easily pass me :D, because my friend who has the ITR know the road by heart for many years, because I live at 2km of this road:D

D16A9 engine stock, only a amazing map! OEM S20 gearbox...

I pass a Modena, and the next turn my ignition blow up, at 2:33" :D
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xb80zd_mister-zaz-trackday-ledenon_auto

there is an really abrupt upping (of 10 meters I think) in the straight line, after the virage in the bowl...at this time, I was approaching the Triple Left turn at 150-160km/h, with the other D16A9 (short gearbox, head machined, and balanced block) I was approaching it at 175-180km/h...now with the B18C6, the straight line is to long :D, I think I will approach it in the 5th gear switch without problem...:)

what you've done to lighten the car?

Mister_Z@z
15.06.2011, 18:46
to lighten my EG:

-I have retired all th interior components, and I have replaced only the things I need to drive: 1 seat, 1 security harness, the steering wheel, the shifter, and the hand brake, that's all!
-I retired the dash board, the heat unit (about -20kg )
-I also retired useless wiring, fore the heat unit, dashboard, air conditionned, radio...
-the front glass are in lexan 3mm (about -5kg for glasses, and 6 or 7kg for glass motors)
-the battery is a jetski/quad model: (Spark 600, 5,5kg against 11kg for the OEM)
-my shocks & springs (Ohlins & RS*R) are 2kg lighter than classic coilovers (D2, Ksport...)
-I retired all the plastic components on the front of the car, and I cut some part of the front bumper
-I retired my front & rear windshield wipers (I only replace the front when it's raining on track....it only happened one time :D)about -6kg)
-I replaced my coolant water by Coca Cola light :D

Damn your car is nice! What is the weight at the moment? Will you fill the holes in the doors? The wind that flows their slows you down :)

Mister_Z@z

thank you Reen :)

now, my EG weights 840kg, with one seat, and the tank filled. (without front windscreen wippers)

I will set a Wiechers roll cage, fiber hood, fiber trunk, lexan rear glasses, so the weight should not change for the moment....event if I could save 10-12kg with forged rims...but not for the moment!

My aim is "under 800kg with tank filled" :)

I had not the possibilty to test my car VS another on straight line, but just a little bit on track....

My friend who sell my the engine/gearbox (he had ITB setup, 238hp for about 1150kg )
he was in front off his own NSX (just exhaust and intake in aftermarket parts) and in equality with EP3 with Jackson racing compressor (about 280/300hp)

so with 300kg less, I hope good performance when the mapping will be done :D

Good work! I even will built a lightweight EG for Drag-Racing. Can you tell me, which Battery Model + Company is it exactly? Must I change something at the terminals, and spacers in order to connect to the battery or will the battery fit plug & play??? -the battery is a jetski/quad model: (Spark 600, 5,5kg against 11kg for the OEM)

hi,

for the battery installation, you just have to flatten the + and - of the harness, because the screw must be screwed in the battery threading directly.

you also have to buy 2 little harness/belts adjustable to fixe the battery because the OEM fixation will be to wide for the new battery ;)

Hi,

I have not been there for a long time, not a lot of change on my Hiji, because my friend is actually busy with his EG K20 dry sump:

B (http://www.ejsquad.fr/image/74/d/2/3/dsc_1348-28-resize-2be3380.jpg.htm)ut some news: one RM22x camshaft has broken during the removing of the pulley...so I change my set up: now I will run with Skunk2 Pro2 St2 camshaft, and little bit more compression.

other incoming part (will be set until beginning of June)

fire extinguisher
fiberglass hood
carbon fiber driver side light
new Hub for the Steering wheel
rear lexan glasses (2mm of thickness: about -4/-5kg compared to OEM glasses)
i will try the Castrol Edge 10w60, hopping that it will fit with my set-up concerning the temperature.
adjustment of the water radiator

and then, mapping :)

I don't know if I will do it in France on the road or on a bench...problem is that in French with do not have unlimited Autobahn :D

do you know if someone in south of Germany is doing good engine management tuning (on road or bench, it doesn't matter)

I heard about someone with a white and green EE9...is he on the forum?

thanks :)Yvan

like your car an the parts on it:up:

I think this are the guys you're looking for:

http://www.individualperformanceparts.com/Projekte.html

never heard that they deal with ECU tunes, but they are well known for great Honda custom parts.

This guy is a true ECU management craftsman:

Hi ,

thanks you for the links :)

the mapping will be done on a bench finally, end of June, in Saint-Etienne,by a colleague of colleague, who use to map WRC cars, Super 1600cc, F2000 and so on...will see the result :)

will come also 4 Rays TE37 forged rims, 15 inches diameter (in pre-order...used parts off course, not branded new )
I hope to try my new configuration in August or September, I don't know if any track-day is planed :)

so what are the news here? anything new?

Hi, not so much news, We have moved back in Southern France beginning of October, I had to buy news injectors with a better fitting for my engine's set up!
the car is pre-mapped, the guy in charge of the mapping was in holydays with his prototype K20, on the Nürburgring, and Donnington...nice holydays :D

I get my 2 bucket seat (RRS and Stand 21 Kevlar), my rear Lexan glasses, the Neova tyres...and I will get my roll-cage in Januar...so I'm more collecting parts than mounting them on my car :(

sounds really good! i like your project a lot, its the same direction i'm going with my ee8 crx, also B18 engine, no 230hp, but its close to that. i think you're gonna love the advan neova, its a great rubber! i'm runnin federal fz201 at 205/50R15 but still need more traction in the front so i think i really need a LSD!
where di you get you lexan windows from and were they expensive?

Mister_Z@z
28.12.2012, 10:04
thanks :) I try to do it on my way, no useless parts costing a lot, only the necessary for reliability and performance...the LSD really change the behavior of the car, but also the way you turn:
without LSD you can get in a turn faster, but you exit this turn a little but slower...
with LSD, you enter slower....but you keep accelerating and exit really quicker out of the turn...so you need a laps of time to adapt you driving skill, and that's interesting :)

I get the lexan windows from a little company specialized in fiberglass and lexan rally part, from south of France (the Rally Temple :D ) "MC Racing", in Nîmes.
you just have to send them the form of the windows on a A0 sheet of paper, and they reproduce the form. I will do the rear windshield also ;)

90€ for the rear pair
190€ for the front pair with the holes
80€ for the rear windshield

you save about 5kg on the font, 5 on the rear, and maybe also 5 on the windshield :)
