The truth is if you hit a BIG pothole or a BIG curb dead-on going at just about any moderate speed, it really doesn't matter what kind of wheel you have, you are probably going to get some kind of wheel damager, whether superficial or internal.
I have seen pics of Volk Te-37s, different forged Mugens, SW388s, and a variety of aftermarket wheels that have been destroyed. In my opinion, if you're going fast enough and hit something hard enough to "hurt" a Rota wheel, then you would probably hurt anyother wheel too.
These things are not designed to fail, but accidents happen. Just try you're best to avoid bad roads, and obstacles in your path. That's one of the main reasons people buy a less expensive wheel. Sure the Mugen and other wheels , (especially MF10 ) look great, but if you accidentally damage one, you're probably gonna be out several hundred dollars.
